Oh how I hate Walmart, I know they have good deals and stuff but I find it too busy and full of weird people that smell horrible. In my very limited experience in the store I’ve seen people sporting fanny-packs, going shirtless, one guy with no shoes, and a baby crawling around the junk food aisle with a parrot on it’s back… okay I made that last one up, but could you imagine it! Going to Walmart is like spending a day at the Circus… for free… Although I guess you do pay for it in dignity and pride once you walk through those sliding glass doors to hell. It really is a breeding ground for the wacky tabacky, which is why I’m a little choked at myself that I didn’t think of this idea first!

People of Walmart is a collection of pictures of all the “different” types of customers that shop at Walmarts around the world, taken incognito by other shoppers. I am sort of a rogue photographer myself and I often capture really awkward people on my camera phone, but the photos on this website makes me look like an amateur!
Now this site has gone viral since Time Magazine did an article on it. Here is an excerpt from that article on how the three founders came up with this brilliant idea:
Andrew, his brother Adam and their friend Luke started People of Walmart after a shopping trip to a South Carolina branch earlier this month. “We turned a corner to see a stripper — at least, I think she was a stripper — with a shirt that read ‘Go F___ Yourself,’ and she had a 2-year-old kid in one of those child harnesses that looked like a dog leash,” says Adam. They turned another corner and saw a guy with a ZZ Top beard. Inspired by the experience, the three friends — who shop at Wal-Mart regularly, sometimes while wearing ugly clothes — went home and created the website.
The founders said they wont post pictures of people who are handicapped or need a scooter because they are overweight because they realize that some people cant help things like that. I’ll let you have a look at the site and judge for yourself whether these “rules” are really being followed.

Now this site has been getting a crazy amount of hits, so sometimes it’s hard to get it working… but it is well worth the wait just to see what Walmart’s finest look like. I’ve also posted a few on my Flickr Feed if their site has gone down.

sounds like your the “weird people” taken pictures of people that you find socailly akward because of their apperances. I can tell you are a very superficail person. What makes you think you are sooooo much better?? because you can take pictures of “weird people” without them knowing???? wow… you need help!! I’ll be praying that god shows you that you are NO BETTER than anyone!
wow that first picture is really mean. I mean that woman could be just playing with her child and here she is on the internet being laughed at. I like most of the pictures on Peopleofwalmart but this one is mean
Haha, yeah I never really thought of it that way. It is kind of mean, I wonder if she knows she is on the site. I know if I ended up on there (but I don’t think I’m weird enough to make the cut) I’d be pretty choked and definitely would be asking to have my photo taken down.
