Today is the day that The Hudson’s Bay Company has released their Team Canada 2010 clothing line to the public. The ceremony took place at the recently renovated 21,000 sqaure-foot Hudson’s Bay store on the corner of Granville and Georgia. Vancouver’s flagship Olympic Superstore, which is completely wrapped in Olympic banners, will not only be shopping headquarters for 2010 Canadian Olympic clothing but the 6th floor of the building will also become Canada House… a place for Canadian Olympic team members, their families and sponsors to congregate. The 5th floor will sell clothing from 10 or 11 other countries. And as per the Vancouver Sun, the other four floors will have:
The Happiness café and official pin trading centre from Coca-Cola, the city’s largest pin wall and the latest Games-related products from sponsors such as Swatch, Panasonic, Birks, Nike, and the Royal Canadian Mint.
Now the clothing itself has more of a timeless feel to it than the Asian inspired pajamas that Team Canada wore for the Beijing Olympics. They definitely have more of a Canadiana vibe to them. I’ve posted my favourite items on my Flickr Feed if you want to have a look. The Bay has also released a commercial for the 2010 clothing which I have posted below:
Now these aren’t the exact clothing items that the Canadian Olympic team will be wearing when they enter BC Place Stadium… we’ll have to wait until February 12th at the opening ceremonies of Vancouver2010 to see that (I guess it’s a surprise). But it does give you a feeling of the kind of style the Canadians will rock. Parkas, toques, wool sweaters, mittens, scarves and trapper hats… no seal fur though.
Post a comment below and let me know what you think of the new Canadian Olympic clothing. Love it, hate it, don’t care? I personally like it. Anything knitted with two dear head on the front is okay by me!
Go Canada Go!

While I am from the USA, I am cheering for Canada in any event that the USA is not directly in competition for a medal. I am a huge hockey fan, so I was happy about the men’s game, but still want Canada to make it to a medal game. We were in Vancouver from the 15-21st. I was hoping to come home with a Team Canada hoodie, but alas we were at the superstore 3 times and they were never in stock when we were there, plus it is not listed on the website. Oh well. Anyway I love the Canada hoodies! Nice design and patches.
I also prefer this Olympic collection to the one from Beijing. This collection is much more wearable. I was also surprised by the prices, they are pretty affordable.
I’ve already purchased the White Canada hoody to wear to the Olympics. HBC got this one right.
See you on twitter.
