red mittens to support canadian athletes

Vancouver 2010 Red MittensWith the release of the Canadian 2010 Olympic clothing a week ago VANOC came up with a neat concept involving a red pair of mittens.  These mittens, which have a maple leaf on the palm and Vancouver 2010 with the Olympic rings on the back, will be for sale for $10 and all the net proceeds will go to Canadian athletes.

According to the Vancouver 2010 website “the iconic Canadian Red Mittens will become a symbol of the 2010 Winter Games and the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay.”  I think they are right with this prediction as I can see this becoming the 2010 version of the Poorboy Hat that was bought by everyone during the ’98 Nagano Olympics.

Made by the Hudson’s Bay Company, the mittens will be sold through the Bay, Zellers and Home Outfitters.  You will also be able to grab a pair at the soon to be opened Olympic Superstore or you can order them from the Vancouver 2010 online store.

    • Hi Gail,

      Thanks for visiting my site.

Unfortunately The Bay has never been very organized in my opinion so I’m not surprised they haven’t got an ample amount of product to supply the demand. I did just find a bunch at The Bay in Coquitlam (but judging by your email address I’m assuming you are based in Ontario so this might not be helpful to you).

Hopefully The Bay will pick up their socks (or mittens) and get produce more at a quicker rate because I would hate for people who want to be able to show their pride not be able to because of lack of organization on HBC’s part.

      Cheers!

      Jorden
