There are only a couple months left until the 2010 Olympics slowly around Vancouver you are starting to see huge banners of Canadiana popping up everywhere, and one of the biggest of these banners will be just over the Burrard Street Bridge at the Molson Canadian Brewery.  Now if you haven’t already heard about Molson Canadian’s 2010 Mural Project it’s a pretty cool promotional idea to coincide with the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.

It’s a pretty simple concept: you get 10,000 people to submit a picture of themselves online at 2010muralproject.ca.  Once your picture is uploaded it will be included on a 4,000 square foot mosaic style mural on the side of the Molson Canadian Brewery in Kitsilano.  All 10,000 photos will form a giant image (which so far kind of looks like a guy holding a Canadian flag) as well as a special message to Canadian athletes (right now the message says “S _ _ R I _   O _   _ H E   _ A M _ S”).  The image will slowly become filled with uploaded photos and in January the completed image and message will be ready to rock until the games end.

When your photo is put onto the mural Molson will send you an email with the exact coordinates of your picture so you can search for it on the physical mural itself or on the virtual version at the Mural Project’s website.

There are 1,500 picture spots remaining and the deadline is this Friday December 4th, so hurry up if you want your lifelong dream of having your face plastered on the side of a brewery to come true!  Molson is also offering poster size versions of the mural for purchase with all proceeds going to the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Teams and the are also donating up to $10,000 – one dollar for every photo – to Own The Podium, the targeted Canadian athlete development program.

So head over to 2010muralproject.ca and load your picture up… I’ll let you know the location of mine once they send it to me!
