I remember breaking my ankle… actually my friend broke it for me… but I digress, anyways I broke it in like 4 spots, it was just nasty.   I had to have surgery and get 4 screws put into it.  Needless to say the X-Ray looked totally bad-ass.  The cast however was pretty lame.  So my other friend designed a hockey skate drawing on the cast to make it look like I was wearing a Nike hockey skate… we thought it was cool but the chicks didn’t really dig it.  That’s why when I saw this I had to write about it.

Now you can make your cast look totally pro with Casttoo.  They design tattoos that can be applied to any type of cast.  My absolute favourite is the cast that is an image of your actual X-Ray!  Just send them a digital file of the X-Ray and they send you back the tattoo ready to be applied.  Now that is creative.

There are hundreds of others too choose from, such as this totally awesome Dinosaur cast… or if you broke your wrist in an Ed Hardy douchebag fight you could get a Tribal tattoo version too.

Sparkle Labs have come up with an idiot-proof craft project for Christmas that even I could probably handle… but I wouldn’t cause I’m super manly and doing crafts or anything that involves construction paper is lame.  But if you do decided to try it, when it’s completed it will make you look like a total Martha Stewart bad-ass!

You just download the PDF and print it onto construction paper or on regular white paper.  Then take out your scissors and cut along the solid lines… you might need one of those fancy craft knives for the tree’s inner skeleton as it get’s a little intricate.  After your tree has been cut out just fold on the dotted lines, tape it together, put some LED lights underneath it, and you’ve got yourself a desktop Christmas tree!  Once lit the tree projects against the wall in a neat way, so if you like shiny things and are easily amused by light patterns… this is probably going to be for you!  Rock n’ Roll!

I’m not going to lie… it looks pretty sweet and I’m going to make one as soon as I finish mowing the lawn, fixing my Harley, lifting weights, and getting a barbed-wire tattoo around my bicep.

Hu2 Design has created stickers that show the inner workings of regular day-to-day devices that we may take for granted.  Although the power to your light switch is not necessarily run on Hamster Power it is a neat way to get people thinking about energy and the environment and where it all comes from before blindly plugging their MacBook into the wall.  Unfortunately the stickers are made of vinyl (which can contain harmful chemicals), so although Hu2′s mind was in the right place they might want to get an environmental consultant next time.

But if the vinyl thing doesn’t bother you I think these stickers are a great way to cool your kid’s room up without having to resort to lame flower wallpaper or those tacky wall stamps of that guy playing a flute (if you don’t know the one I’m talking about you will see it one day and say “Oh! That’s what Jorden was talking about!”).  I don’t know if I’d use that toilet sticker though… I don’t want to know where all that stuff goes.

Put the “Tubular” back into your tiles, the “Bad-Ass” into your back splash, the “Kool” into your kitchen, and the “Bitchin” into your bathroom with Tetris Tiles!

Tetris Tiles are tiles in the shape of different Tetris blocks.  You get to pick up to 7 colours (one for each shape) and then you place them in any way you want… although you have to be careful because if you accidentally place 4 of the same colours in a line technically those tiles should disappear and the other tiles should shift down… your nerdy gamer friends will notice this so you may want to do a little pre-planning.

So now you’ll be the envy of all your single friends who will immediately want to get hitched and procreate just so they can have a family home with Tetris Tiles in the kitchen and bathroom… well I guess they don’t really need to be married or have kids to be able to use Tetris Tiles in their place, but it sure makes you feel a little less lame for settling down doesn’t it?

So in a sense you are pretty much mother or father nature.  During the summer you like to be at one with the environment, no Disneyland for you and the kids, you want to be next to the trees, the soil, to the animals, living off the land in the wilderness… only one problem… you freakin’ hate camping.

Well I have a solution for you Father Freetrade and Mother Must-Be-Organic… it’s called the Camper Bike.  This bad-boy was created by Boston artist Kevin Cyr and is a half-sized RV that is mounted on the back of a modified tricycle.  It’s human powered and completely emission free but you might need to take the back roads when finding your wooded oasis because it looks like it would be really hard to get up to 100km per hour on the freeway with a camper on your back.

On the inside (which unfortunately I can’t find any pictures of) it has small but efficient appliances, some storage, and of course a place to sleep.  You’ll still have to pee in the woods though because is doesn’t have a septic tank.

Cyr created the camper bike as a work of art for his photographs and they make an appearance in many of his paintings as well.  Even though it is meant as an art piece it is fully functioning and will go anywhere you can pedal it… which probably isn’t that far, but even if you did get cooking on that thing think of how hard it would be to stop without the whole thing toppling over on you… hold onto your hat!

The Big Rig by Nixon

Some people are into hats, lots of people love shoes, I know quite a few that are into jewelery, and I even have a friend that likes feet… but that’s a different type of fetish for a different day.  But my weakness is the wristwatch. There is something fascinating about the time and craftsmanship it takes to make a unique piece of art that has so many delicate parts inside that need to work perfectly together so that you don’t lose time.  Although most watches these days (except the most expensive like the 2005 Tour de l’Ile by Vacheron Constantin) are made in a factory, back in the day watchmakers used to have to go through a 7 year apprenticeship program before creating their first watch… now that’s dedication.

What I love about watches is that they are such a unique form of expression about a person’s style, so unique in fact that rarely do you see the same watch on two different people… plus the thousands of choices help.  And in all this talk about the artistry of the watch I always forget that they serve a purpose… they tell time!  More and more people use their mobile phones as a time-telling device but I can guarantee you that your phone isn’t as sexy as my watch.

PS: I know you Googled “Watch Fetish”

The coin is shaped like a guitar pick and includes a hologram in the middle of it with 6-strings.  They only made 30,000 of these guys so you are going to have to jump pretty quick if you want to get one.  They are $34.95 CAD and can be purchased on the Royal Canadian Mint website, I did see some on eBay as well.  I’ve included a video below that describes how the coin was conceived and also has some neat information on the Six String Nation Guitar as well.

The Royal Canadian Mint always comes up with some neat stuff.  I’m not a coin collector but if I did come across this one I would be pretty stoked about it… although for $34.95 I’ll probably just have to find one in between the couch cushions.

So my wife (who is a lot craftier and creative than I am… but she doesn’t have a blog so take that!) has started making her own cards.  Whether it be out of an old greeting card, postcard, picture… this is a great way to recycle or create something that someone will want to hold on to… cause lets be honest, people love homemade stuff because it makes them feel more special than the person you go to Hallmark for.

Now it’s fairly easy to do… for instance for this Mother’s Day I took a nice picture of my mom and I, messed around with it in iPhoto put it on a piece of cardstock and voila you are done!  My wife on the other hand (who like I said is a lot more creative than I… but don’t tell her that cause it just goes to her head) took an old magazine and cut out similar colours into shapes to create flowers.

Now I’m sure my mom will keep her picture card and I know my mother-in-law will keep hers from my wife and both of us now feel guilt free for not going out and buying a half-ass card with a cheesy photo on the front.
